Congressional App Challenge
I am excited to invite students to participate in this year's annual Congressional App Challenge. This competition was created to inspire students to explore a potential career in science or technology and to engage students that are traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields. I’m proud to announce that, for the first time, our district’s student will be eligible to participate this year.
The Congressional App Challenge gives students, working in groups of up to four, the opportunity to develop a phone, tablet, or computer application. They have until November 1 to complete and submit their application online, along with a video explaining the purpose of their application and an explanation of how it works. A panel of judges from across the district will then pick the winners, who will be announced at a ceremony in December. Any student who attend your schools is welcome to participate. Since the competition began in 2015, the winners of the Congressional App Challenge have had their apps displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year and have had the opportunity to show their app to members of Congress. We will keep you informed when more details are released regarding the potential awards this year for students who participate in the challenge.
Students who are interested in participating can visit https://www.congressionalappchallenge.us/students to sign up, or reach out to my staff member, Karsten Szajner, by phone at 517-993-0510 or by email at Karsten.Szajner2@mail.house.gov.
We look forward to seeing all of the wonderful entries we get from across the district!
