TOMORROW: Slotkin to Hold Video Press Briefing on Efforts to Arm Medical Providers Against COVID-19

March 26, 2020

HOLLY, Mich. –– U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-08) will hold a video news conference tomorrow, at 12:00PM Friday, March 27, to discuss her legislative and on-the-ground efforts to get vital medical supplies and equipment into the hands of front-line medical providers in the fight against the COVID-19 crisis. Michigan's growing number of confirmed cases puts it within the top five most-affected states in the country.

In recent days, Slotkin has undertaken a number of efforts to mobilize medical supplies to frontline workers in Michigan. In addition to working directly with suppliers in the state to produce more protective materials, Slotkin issued a video call for 8th District residents and businesses to donate supplies to district hospitals, and co-authored the bipartisan Medical Supply Chain Emergency Act requiring the Trump Administration to use its authority under the Defense Production Act to produce and distribute critically needed supplies. She has also urged Congressional colleagues to rapidly pass new economic recovery legislation including additional funding for hospitals and health care facilities.

To protect the health and safety of media representatives, Slotkin will hold the news conference via video conference, allowing access for print and broadcast journalists while observing good public health practices to help slow the spread of the virus.
