Slotkin Shows Support for UAW Workers on Strike at Lake Orion GM Plant

September 23, 2019

LAKE ORION –– U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-08) visited UAW Local 5960 members on strike at the Orion Assembly in Lake Orion, one of two GM plants in Michigan's 8th congressional district.

Throughout the strike, Slotkin has voiced her support for UAW members, lifting up workers' desires for fair wages, job stability, and strong healthcare, underscoring her hope for a quick and fair resolution; and sharing the stories of GM workers and the concessions they have made out of dedication to the company.

"I was proud to stand with UAW members at the Lake Orion Assembly plant," Slotkin said. "Cars were honking to show their support, and workers told me the public support they've felt from the community throughout the strike has been overwhelming. While it remains a tough time for workers and their families, spirits were high — and I remain hopeful that workers' desires are heard soon."
