Congressional App Challenge

We’re excited to announce that our office will be participating in the 2021 Congressional App Challenge. This is a great opportunity for students in our district to show off their creative capabilities and computer science and technology skills.

Students working solo or in groups of up to 4 will be given the chance to test their innovative abilities by developing an app for phone, tablet or computer. Competitors will have until November 1 to complete and submit their application online, along with a video explaining the purpose of their application and an explanation of how it works. A panel of judges will come together from across the district to assess the submissions and a ceremony will be held in December to announce the winner.

This is an incredible opportunity for students to engage in this increasingly inventive and important field. Winners will have their apps displayed in the U.S. Capitol building and will have an opportunity to present their work to members of Congress. Students who live in or attend a middle or high school in Michigan’s 8th district are all eligible to apply.

Students who are interested in participating can visit www.congressionalappchallenge.us/students to sign up, or reach out to my staff member, Angel Hague, by phone at 517-993-0510 or by email at angel.hague@mail.house.gov.
